Behind the scene

Tree of Life - 2024

Tree of life was build inside the Musée du Textile in Cholet. The construction took about three weeks. One week of initial set up with the wood and wires and then later on two full weeks wrapping the tree in yarn and hanging the strings from the branches. The trunk and three of the branches are drift wood found in the Loire river by fellow artist Serge Crampon that generously let me use them for this project for the Exhibit Cosmogonie 2024. The yarn is a wool acrylic blend and the string is a very heavy cottton to keep the string straight. Both are dyed using leaves and bark from the Ash tree, which is what Yggdrasil is considered to be in the norse mythology.
